Lower Lee Vining Campground

Lower Lee Vining Campground is a primitive campground located on Lee Vining Creek often used by campers who can’t find a spot at Yosemite National Park. The campground with 53 sites is located 3 miles west of the town of Lee Vining, California.

Many campers who arrive at Yosemite National Park due so without a reservation and are frustrated when they find out all campgrounds are full. Lower Lee Vining Campground, along with nearby Forest Service campgrounds Aspen , Moraine, Cattleguard, Big Bend, are a godsend and used as an overflow for those who are left in the dark without a campsite.

The highlight of the campground is Lee Vining Creek, a beautiful and cold small mountain stream that runs right past the campground. The creek flows parallel to Highway 120 on its way down to Mono Lake. The creek provides great rainbow trout fishing opportunities and is stocked regularly in the summer season.

Lower Lee Vining Campground features 53 single sites for tent camping and RVs. Campsites vary from large, open spaces exposed to the elements to those shaded by large trees in the forest. Some of the sites are located right on the banks of Lee Vining Creek.

There are no water services available. The campground has one vault toilet.

Also keep in mind that this is bear country. All food must be stored in the provided metal bear boxes.

$16 per night

Reservations are not accepted.

Season / Opening and Closing Dates

The campground is generally open from May to October.

Directions

From Highway 395 in Lee Vining, turn west on State Route 120 (Tioga Pass). Continue on State Route 120 (Tioga Pass) for 2.7 miles to reach the turn off for the campground on the left.
